Today marks the 20th day in Shanghai, away from hot and humid Singapore and its only my very first post!
Well, I guess Mervyn is right. Blogs and I have no link. haha.. He does not believe that I will set up a blog.
Anyway, thanks to all who tagged and all who asked abt how I'm doing in Shanghai. I'm enjoying myself right here in Shanghai with great friends, neighbours and yes, great campus! Its really nice and big. I should say, its a very peaceful environment and very suitable for retirement. hahaa.. to quote annabelle.
22/02/2007- Day 1
Arrived in Shanghai at abt 6am in the morning and walked around the airport before taking a cab to campus. Checked in at Taoliyuan in Xuhui campus and went to meet Ruizhong and Zhiyong (2 other Singapore exchange students). Oh yes, and my very first meal in Shanghai is Burger King and they give out ang baos! haha.. ok. not that there is any money inside but they give packets of ang baos.
We walked alot that day and went to Yuyuan Gardens followed by the Bund. It was a very nice experience catching glimpse of the environment in Shanghai.

This is a nice condo that I took while exploring the streets and the next photo shows what the residents face every day when they look out of their window.

and further down the road, this is wat you will see.

23/02/2007- Day 2
Welcome to Shanghai, Annabelle! and she was my room mate for i think 5 days? around there. It's really a small world as she's a fellow crescentian and we have so many common friends. haha..That's Annabelle in red.

26/02/2007 - Day 5
Derrick, Annabelle and I (those staying in Taoliyuan) had lunch in a Singaporean Cafe- Prima Taste at Metro in Xujiahui. Only 5 days in Shanghai and we begin to miss Singapore food. haha.. Had chicken rice for S$6, but its not as nice as the chicken rice back in Singapore thou..
and this is the poster inside Prima Taste, reminds me of home!

We also went to Minhang campus. Met up with Zhiyong and Ruizhong who's staying over at Minhang. The campus is really big and they have very grand entrances. Did I mention, Shanghai Jiao Tong Uni has 6 campuses altogether. Xuhui is located in the city while Minhang is in the outskirts. But most of the student population is in Minhang.
27/02/2007- Day 6
We went to Fahuazhen campus for some admin stuff and I came across this drawing along the street. Very well drawn rite? Happy new year to all!

And this is the school logo and the words 饮水思源。Its located everywhere on campus.
Direct translation would be "think of its source while drinking water".
That should sum up my very first post. More photos will be up when i manage to log in at multiply.
One last thing, thanks to Alec for the sumptuous lunch over at his place during CNY. and thanks to curl, drey, eugene, ganesh, vid and benji for the surprise!
and curl, i brought the letter along with me to shanghai!

Ciaoz! I'm so looking forward to shopping at 七浦路 again tml! :)
