I'm back!.. to post.. hahaa.. I admit, i'm kind of lazy to blog.. but i will try.
Oh yeah, as the title suggest, I saw this advertisement for NUS. Take a look!
NUS advertises on MSN! Was pretty shocked when i see the familiar logo on MSN.. hahaa.. but well.. JOINUS.SG! haha..
Oh yes, on May 22nd, Weiming brought us to this Yunnan Restaurant near Fu Xing Xi Lu. Super nice place. Very nice ambience and definitely great food! The name of the restaurant is 花马天堂云南餐厅。

May 25th
Yet another day of fun and good food. It's Derrick's bday! so we were out at ren ming guang chang for dinner. Wanted to eat at this restaurant that we had always wanted to try but din manage to because of the super looonnng queue. But as usual, we didn't get to eat there because its fully booked! In the end we settled for Papa Johns!

May 25th is also the day fellow RE friends arrived in Shanghai for their Summer Program. Welcome to Shanghai!.. :)
Met up with Yaowei and Weijie for dinner on May 26th and brought them to 吴越人家 at 南京东路。 And the following day, met up with the rest at the urban planning centre at ren ming guang chang. Its great seeing all of them again after so long! Photos will be up when i get them from yaowei. :) Dinner was at 小南国 over at 浦东。all the good food! More good food to come when my family is here in 2 days time! So looking forward to Thursday.. haha.. Okae, I'm looking forward to their arrival but not exactly the arrival of the day itself. Because I have an essay due on thurs. argh..
In the meantime, I shall just get back to my dreaded assignments. sianed..

南京 4-6 May / Monday, May 14, 2007
Nanjing trip- 3D2N Free and Easy. One very eventful trip indeed. We started off waking up very early, reaching 上海南站 (South Shanghai Railway station) at about 8.20am to catch our 9.15am train, all excited about the first class seats on board the bullet train. It was not long after that we realised we were at the wrong train station. We are supposed to be at the 上海火车站！Just as we were rushing to take a cab, the staff at the station advised us to take the MRT. We will definitely not be able to reach the station on time if we took a cab. So all 6 of us hurried our way to take the MRT, panicking and praying hard that we will be able to reach on time.
9.05am- There we are at the train station. Ruizhong, Anna, Zhiyong and Weixuan had their tickets cut and entered the waiting area, and we all thot we were just in time. Not until when the guy cut my ticket, then he realised that he should not have because they have stopped people from boarding the train. We were told to go to the ticketing booth to ask for exchange to another train or at least get a partial refund. At the ticketing booth, we met this lady and she started chatting with us. Telling us that it's impossible to refund/change our tickets since it has been cut and that even if they allow, there will be an admin charge or sth. And we thought she was a fellow tourist experiencing the same situation. But we were wrong! She's actually selling black tickets. I suppose, the tickets were fake and that you probably have the same seat number as someone else. Fortunately, we managed to change our tickets to the 10.15 am train. That lady totally sian diao and look so super disappointed. hahaha.. and Ruiz was like laughing away at the lady.. hahaa.. gloating over the fact that she can't sell us black tickets.. hhaha..
10.15am- Finally on our way to Nanjing! Our train was bound for Harbin and our seats were 卧座, meaning its a bed.
From a 2hr ride by bullet train, we took 5 hours to reach Nanjing on a normal train instead. Was chatting with the uncle in the train and he was like, from Shanghai to Nanjing, is there a need for a bed? hahaa.. well, we had no choice you see. If I'm not wrong, most of them are going to Harbin and the train will reach Harbin at 5pm the next day. Meaning, more than 30hours train ride..
3+ pm: Finally, we are at Nanjing!
First stop: 夫子庙
Met up with Ah Cheng and Ah Rong from Hongkong at 夫子庙. Spent the rest of our day 1 there. Bought a lot of things from the street market..
Day 2:
Signed up for a day tour of Nanjing for 175RMB at the train station when we first reached. Attractions include 朝天宮, 雨花台, 夫子庙, 瞻园, 中华门(passed by), 梅园, 中山陵。One thing bad about it is that we spent the day rushing from place to place that you don't even have sufficient time to look around..

Day 3- All the places (except the 南京大屠杀纪念馆, which was closed) that we planned to visit were all covered in the tour. Hence in day 3, we visited Nanjing 1912 (recommended by Ah Cheng and Ah Rong), a place something like the 新天地 in Shanghai. Walked around, went for lunch and proceeded to 玄武湖. After which, walked along the lake to reach 南京站 to get back to 上海.
The great company I have for the trip made it really enjoyable. Here it is, a collage for the trip. Looking forward to more trips together!
Next trip!- Beijing from 17 to 21 may :)

五一黄金周 in China refers to the "Labour Day Golden Week" and it begins on May 1 and lasted for a week. The Chinese government first set 3 days of holiday for the pple, but in the year 2000, it was combined with 2 weekends such that the pple now have a 7 day vacation. The primarily aim for the week long holiday was to help expand the domestic tourism market, improve the national standard of living as week as allowing people to make long-distance family visits.
While most pple have 7 days of holiday, I had 11 days! because I have no lessons on mondays and fridays. hahaa.. so in actually fact, my holiday starts on 28th april. Went to 横店影视城 on the 28th of April for 2 days. Rested on the 30th of April back in Shanghai and set off to 雁荡山 for 3 days on 1st of May, and on the 4th of May, went to 南京. Besides the 7 hours bus ride to and fro for the 雁荡山 trip and missing the first class seats on board the bullet train to Nanjing, I really enjoyed myself during the week long trips. Been to the places many 明星 have step foot on, seen and climbed mountains, experienced the bustling city life of Nanjing etc. Awesome!
28-29 April: 横店影视城
横店 is located in Zhejiang province and is known to be “江南第一镇”. It is located 380km away from Shanghai. It is also one of the first AAAA traveling areas approved by National Tourism Bureau, and is awarded the “Chinese Hollywood” by the American magazine Hollywood Report.

First Stop: 沈丽峡
Next Stop: 屏岩洞府
屏岩洞府 is known to be “江南第一洞天”, and it is a 道家修行之福地。

The whole event feels like orientation camp! Tourists were invited to join in the dance and we were all running around the fire at the centre stage. just like a camp fire. haha...
Day 2-
Day 2 was spent at 秦王宫。It was built in 1997 for the historical film 《荆轲刺秦王》。It has a total of 27 宝殿 and the 主宫 is known as "四海归一殿"。Shall just post some photos of the place.. haha.. I'm too lazy to type.. :P
Time now is 2.30 am and I only managed to talk abt 1 out of the 3 tours during 五一。Blogger eats up my words you see.. it just disappeared. Shall talk abt my trip to 雁荡山 and 南京 another time then.
